  • 2006 - Shramadana

    In 2006 the OBA undertook a massive Shramadana campaign whereby a massive clean up task took place. The primary was to ensure that the environment in which the students learn should be clean. This programme was for two days during a weekend. The participating Old Boys and some Students took part with the great enthusiasm. That project paved the way to realize the importance of maintaining the buildings and its environs. 
  • 2007 - Front side development

    In this Year the Old Boys Association launched a project to re-build the first building of the College - namely Wapche Marikkar building which house the main Science Laboratory. This building was converted  into a modernized building by adding more classrooms and giving a massive facelift. This building now constitutes English Medium Junior classes , book shop, Science Laboratory and Zahira Vocational Training Centre ( ZVTC).

  • 2009 - Swimming Pool Launch

    Swimming Pool Launch and Progress Album

    In this Year the OBA delved into an ambitious project - that is the Swimming Pool for the College. The commitment was 90 Million. The Foundation Stone for the Swimming Pool was laid by the Egypt Ambassador in Sri Lanka.  Within the space of just 3 years the Swimming Pool Complex was completed comprising a Training Pool, Main Pool, Gym, Board Room, Auditorium, Cafeteria. It is this Complex that the Basketball Court was constructed and added as the latest sport in the Sports arena. In addition Futsal Sports was also introduced whereby Old Boys and outsiders book the place to engage in Futsal. 

  • 2010 - Annual Dinner

    Reunion Dinner was aimed at conveying the message about the importance of Education and providing proper Educational facilities at Zahira College. The Old Boys were encouraged to support the School in its Educational needs and create a boom in Education in a reasonably short period. 

  • 2011 - Prof. M.T.A. Furkhan Building Opening

    This Dinner paved the way to the emergence of two important buildings - namely Al Makhtoom Building and Desamanya Professor M.T.A. Furkhan building. Desamanya Furkhan building constitutes the only building donated by a single Old Boy.

    While Al Maktoum Building constitutes some Classrooms, a Hall and the Library, Furkhan building forms a major part of the primary sections requirements namely classrooms, Primary IT Room, Hall, Sectional Head Room and a Hall. 

  • 2012 - Celebrated 120 Years & Zahira Walk

    In commemoration of 120 years of Excellence of the College, the OBA organized a walk on the 1st December, 2012. It followed with a colorful carnival extending to the following day comprising game stalls, food stalls, trade stalls and performance by the past and present students, fun rides for kids, stilt walkers and carnival mascots and many more.

  • 2012 - Swimming Pool Complex Opening

    One of the long felt needs of the college, an own swimming pool became a reality under the able leadership of Jisthy Fahmi as its project chairman, ably assisted by many committed and hardworking old boys. The project was successfully completed and declared open on Saturday 14th July 2012 amidst a large and distinguished gathering under the patronage of Al Haj Deshamanya Prof. M.T.A. Furkhan, Al Haj M. H. Omar who are distinguished old boys of the College.

  • 2013 - Abdul Ghaffoor Building Extension

    The extension of Ghaffoor building provided added space and capacity to Ghaffoor Hall.  The other areas of the extended building comprises the Health Food Canteen and Activity Rooms.

  • 2014 - OBA Centenary Dinner

    This years Dinner was held at Hotel Hilton, Colombo . A Magazine was printed and released depicting historical information about Zahira College and of the Old Boys' Association. Those Old Boys who brought honour and prestige to their Alma Mater through achievements in Academic and Sports were honoured by depicting their life history. 

    The first OBA Dinner was held on 17th February 1924 under the stewardship of Dr. T.B. Jayah, the First President of the Old Boys' Association and the OBA having formed in the year 1914.

  • Crescent Lights 2016

    The OBA successfully organized an epoch-marking event to commemorate our Alma mater’s 125th anniversary, under the theme of Crescent Light 2016 on the 2nd, 3rd, & 4th of September, at the college grounds.

  • OBA DAY OUT - 2016

    The Organizing committee of the OBA, under the co – chairmanships of Mr. Namiz and Shiraz organized an unforgettable day outing at Che Adventure Park at Kahatapitiya, Hanwella on Saturday, the 3rd of December, 2016.

    Nearly 20 OBA Exco members participated at the outing, which provided everyone with an opportunity to relax and rejuvenate themselves. The outdoor games such as Rifle shooting, Archery, thrilling Aerial Rope and other fun filled ground activities were conducted by well-trained ex commandos of SL forces, and was keenly accepted and attended by all the members.

  • Sports Complex

    This years Dinner will focus on the importance of Education and Sports. Whilst much needed infra structure facilities was provided to the College to enhance the Educational Standards of the College and equal importance will be given to sports also.

    In this regard the OBA has started yet another ambitions and mega project namely - SPORTS COMPLEX. This project which will cost nearly 120 Million will provide a fully fledged Sports Complex whereby Indoor Cricket Net, Badminton, Boxing, Martial Arts, Squash Table Tennis and other sports will be added feature. There will an Electronic Score Board in front of this Complex. Arrangements are being to launched the project shortly.

  • Teacher's day 2015

  • WorkShop - Brand Promise based on the Zahira Model

    The Office Bearers Role in Delivering the “Brand Promise” based on the “Zahira “Model workshop was successfully conducted by Bro. Munshif Hussain on 15th January 2017, to a packed-to-capacity audience at the swimming pool auditorium. 

    Mr. Trizvi Marikkar, Principal of the Zahira College and Mr. Rizvi, secretary to the BOG graced the occasion as special guests. 

    The welcome speech was delivered by Bro. Azmi (OBA president) and Bro. Ashraf Rumi (G80 president) by highlighting the significance of the workshop. Naushad Alavi delivered an introduction of Bro. Munshif Hussain.

    This corporate style breakfast workshop was jointly organized by the OBA and G80 for the benefit of the affiliated members to keep abreast of the management techniques as well as guidelines to conduct effective meetings.
